Thanos does not appear directly but is invoked when Rogers recovers his memory and explains how he ended up in 1602. During the Battle of Wakanda, Rogers struck the Infinity Gauntlet while fighting him, accidentally hitting the Time Stone and sending himself centuries into the past. Thanos is the unwitting cause of everything.
