Thanos appears only in the final seconds, mid-conquest on Zen-Whoberi, recruiting a young Gamora. Presumably, he never gets the chance to finish what he started. Hela and Wenwu arrive with the full force of their combined empire, and the implication is immediate: this is where his story ends differently.
