Smoke and Mirrors
Amanda Carter is Peggy and Michael’s mother. During Peggy’s childhood, she repeatedly reprimands Peggy for behaving in ways she considers improper for a young lady. When Peggy and Michael play at fighting a dragon and rescuing a princess, Amanda scolds Peggy for her unruly behavior and tells her that she will eventually need to learn to behave like a lady. Her expectations contrast with Michael’s willingness to encourage Peggy’s adventurous imagination.
