Milestone: Killed by someone
Jane Scott is discovered dead inside Echo Park Lake, frozen in a block of ice during a severe Los Angeles heat wave. Her body exhibits the same stab wounds associated with the earlier victims, and her shoes have been switched to the wrong feet. The unusual circumstances initially make the death appear to be the return of the Lady of the Lake killer.
The autopsy, however, reveals that Jane actually died from organ failure caused by exposure to an unknown toxic substance rather than from the stab wounds. The killer used the known shoe-switching signature to make investigators believe she had been murdered by the Lady of the Lake killer. Jane worked at Isodyne Energy as a particle physicist and had a romantic relationship with Calvin Chadwick. The radioactive material found in her body becomes the lead connecting her death to Isodyne's particle accelerator.
