The Atomic Job
Joseph Manfredi is a powerful crime boss with connections that Whitney Frost believes can help her obtain men for a covert operation. Whitney visits him alongside Calvin Chadwick and offers lucrative construction contracts tied to Chadwick’s expected political influence. Manfredi agrees to supply men who can help move equipment discreetly.
Manfredi also demands assurances that his name and those of his associates will no longer appear negatively in the newspaper. During the meeting, one of his men behaves inappropriately toward Whitney, and Manfredi intervenes to reprimand him before returning to the negotiation. His agreement gives Whitney and Chadwick access to criminal manpower for the attempt to acquire the atomic material.
