Thor: Tales of Asgard
Thor: Tales of Asgard

Kills in this episode: 1

Loki is the younger son of Odin and Thor's loyal little brother, an apprentice sorcerer whose budding magic is still finding its shape. Under the tutelage of Amora, he proves a rare talent, granting life to water so that it becomes a striking snake, a feat his teacher calls the mark of real promise since water is also mist and ice. When Thor resolves to steal away on a forbidden quest for the Sword of Surtur, Loki lets his brother talk him into coming along, overstating his own skill even as he frets that royalty are not made for such danger.

Across the journey his cleverness proves as valuable as any blade. He conceals the brothers aboard the Warriors Three's ship, turns his sorcery on their enemies in the Frost Giant realm, and stands by Thor as the adventure curdles into war. The quest ends in tragedy that hardens something in him. When the traitor Algrim strikes down Odin, it is Loki who kills the Dark Elf in cold blood, then retreats alone to a temple, brooding that in Algrim's place he might have done the very same, the first shadows of the god of mischief gathering around the boy.
