The Lady in the Lake
Milestone: Killed by someone
Dr. Meltzer examines Jane Scott's frozen body while the SSR waits for the remains to thaw. He confirms that the stab wounds are consistent with the earlier Lady of the Lake victims and notices that Scott's shoes have been switched to the wrong feet. He cannot immediately determine whether the body caused the later freezing or whether the freezing occurred first.
Meltzer later completes the autopsy and determines that Scott died from organ failure caused by an unknown toxic substance rather than from the stab wounds. He subsequently dies after prolonged exposure to the contaminated body. His death becomes part of the evidence that the substance can be transmitted through contaminated blood.
