Nikola is a brilliant engineer imprisoned by Leviathan and forced to work on a weapon based on stolen Stark schematics. Dr. Ivchenko explains that Nikola perceives scientific systems in unusually complex ways, seeing biological and chemical relationships that ordinary people cannot immediately perceive. This exceptional intellect is the reason Leviathan considers him valuable.
In the frenzy of the escape, the team finds themselves momentarily cornered. Nikola handles it poorly by taking "Happy Sam" hostage in an attempt to survive. He is shot in the head by Dr. Ivchenko for his efforts.
