The Executioner is eager to serve the Enchantress, whom he desires. She promises that he may have a chance with her if he first carries out a task on Earth. She shows him a picture of Jane Foster and orders him to destroy the woman. The Executioner travels to Earth and searches the city until he finds Jane. Using his enchanted axe, he creates a spinning vortex that hurls Jane into limbo.
Thor confronts the Executioner and demands Jane’s return. The Executioner offers to release her in exchange for Thor’s hammer, and Thor agrees. The Executioner retrieves Jane but discovers that possessing the hammer does not mean he can lift it. The Enchantress then intervenes, immobilizes him, and accuses him of failing to remove Jane permanently. When Thor attacks, the Executioner asks Thor to take his hammer back and releases him from the bargain. Thor ultimately banishes both enemies from Earth.
