Milestone: Killed by Sasha Demidov
Spider Raymond runs La Martinique, a swank New York nightclub in 1946, and works its back rooms as a fence for merchandise no honest dealer would touch. Right now the hottest thing in his safe is one of Howard Stark's "bad babies," a vial of molecular Nitramene lifted from Stark's vault and passed to him by the scarred supplier Leet Brannis. Raymond is shopping it to the highest bidder, dreaming of getting very rich while a fair number of people get very dead. Paranoid by trade, he lets exactly two things slip past his guard: blondes and money. That short list is about to cost him everything.
Peggy Carter walks into his club as precisely the blonde he cannot turn away, charms her way into his office, and drops him with a kiss off her doctored lipstick before cracking the safe and walking out with the Nitramene. Raymond comes to over an empty vault and a far worse guest. The mute man in the green suit, throat branded like a Leviathan operative, has come for merchandise Raymond can no longer produce. Raymond swears he can fix it. Sasha Demidov answers with a bullet to the head. For a fence whose entire living depended on reading which buyers to trust, trusting the wrong ones twice in one night is a spectacularly bad final performance.
