1602-07-15 CE - What if... ? - Season 2, Episode 8: The Avengers Assembled in 1602?

Loki is mid-soliloquy when the universe tries to take him. He is on stage at the Globe Theater, delivering Hamlet with a skull in hand and full theatrical commitment, while the rest of the royal court watches. When the rift tears open above the theater and the crowd scatters, Loki keeps performing. Resulting in him still in character when the vortex begins pulling him upward. Carter catches him with a rope and hauls him back down before the rift closes.

His contribution to everything that follows is largely unwitting. When Carter goes on the run after Hela's death and Thor's subsequent fury, she takes Loki's skull prop with her, having noticed a trace of green residue on it that does not belong to any material she recognizes. That substance turns out to be the thread Tony Stark pulls to build his device and eventually identify the Forerunner. Loki provides the key to saving the entire universe by doing nothing more than holding a prop during a Shakespeare performance and nearly getting swallowed by a hole in reality. It is, even by his standards, an unusual way to matter.
