Viola is the mysterious woman who seeks out Freddy Malick at the gathering, claiming to have known his late father and pressing a set of vials into his hands with the assurance that they are meant for him, and for the future. Her part turns violent when the enemy strikes: caught in the chaos and gravely wounded, she is carried in bleeding, her true errand cut short before it can be understood.

Tended by the agents who carried her from the chaos, Viola wakes in the back of the speakeasy and plays the only card she has left, painting herself as a harmless friend of Freddy's late father, there to help a poor young man better his lot. The performance does not survive Simmons. A passport stamped with half a dozen recent journeys to Germany and a telltale residue clinging to her shoe strip the disguise away, marking her not as a Good Samaritan but as an agent of HYDRA, the courier who slipped the first ingredient of the serum that will one day forge the Red Skull into the right hands. Whatever becomes of her now, her work is already done.
