Wanda is the reason Peggy Carter is in this universe at all. Operating as the Scarlet Witch in the court of 1602, she is the one who reached across the multiverse and pulled Carter through, having sensed that someone from outside this reality was the only thing capable of addressing the rifts tearing the world apart. She functions from the beginning as the voice of reason in Thor's court, telling him plainly that Carter is not responsible for Hela's death and that a Forerunner from another time is the true source of the instability. Thor does not listen, but Wanda keeps working around him.

She is the one who senses that the Forerunner exists and is present, even when she cannot identify who they are. When the final confrontation comes and Thor moves against Carter rather than with her, Wanda makes her choice clearly, turning on the king to hold him back long enough for Stark's device to do its work. She strains to contain both Thor and the growing rift simultaneously, and the effort pushes her past her limits before the crisis resolves. She brought Carter in to save this universe, kept the truth alive when the king refused to hear it, and spent herself making sure the plan had enough time to work.
