Time and Tide
Butch Wallace is one more badge in the SSR bullpen. When Ray Krzeminski hunts for someone to cover his shift, Wallace is among the agents who beg off, pleading plans of his own. It is a throwaway bit of coworkers dodging a favor, the ordinary grumbling of working stiffs. None of them knows the shift they are all ducking is the one that gets Krzeminski killed before dawn.
