The Origin of Captain America / Wreckers Among Us / Enter Red Skull
Milestone: Killed by Heinz Kruger
Dr. Abraham Erskine is the scientist behind the military's secret program to create super soldiers for the Allied war effort, the creator of the super-soldier serum. When the frail Steve Rogers is chosen as the first test subject, it is Erskine who receives him at a hidden laboratory and administers the formula, watching as the serum increases Rogers' muscle mass and transforms him into a super soldier.
His triumph is cut short in the same moment it is achieved. A Nazi spy slips into the laboratory and shoots Erskine dead, and with him dies the secret of the serum, leaving Rogers the only super soldier the program will ever produce.
