Howard Walters

Howard Walters is the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, the man Robbie Robertson turns to with his photographs of the powered men fighting the police in the Hooverville. Robbie offers him the story and asks for his old job back, and Walters takes the article readily enough, though he stops short of restoring the reporter to full-time work.

What he does with the piece sours the deal. Walters has the story rewritten to cast Lonnie and Flint as monsters and the police as heroes, turning Robbie's account on its head. When the paper hits the streets the next morning, the distortion leaves Robbie furious at seeing his work twisted into something it was never meant to be.

Howard Walters, the editor at the Daily Bugle, finds Robbie Robertson back at his door with a fresh story, this one detailing the Spider's defeat of the electrical man in the Diamond District. Robbie comes to the table with conditions rather than requests, and Walters hears him out.

He agrees to the terms to land the piece: he will run the story exactly as written with no changes, print a retraction of the earlier article that painted Lonnie and Flint as monsters, and give Robbie his old desk back. In striking the deal, Walters restores the reporter to his full standing at the paper.
