Sergeant Duffy is the gruff drill sergeant at the Army camp where Steve Rogers serves, forever exasperated by the private he takes for a clumsy, bumbling recruit. He barks at Rogers over his fumbling on the drill line, calling him a meathead and a knucklehead and threatening him with kitchen duty, with no idea that the soldier he torments is secretly Captain America.
His scorn continues even as the war effort turns on the very man he berates. Late in the segment he is still riding Rogers, ordering him to peel potatoes and snapping at the yard bird for the slightest thing, the running joke of the hardened sergeant blind to the hero standing right in front of him.
