When the ghost train reveals Sonny Burch as the Hood's enforcer, the connection closes: Burch is the one who wiped out her family, and Kate handles it directly, with Jun-Fan's timely help turning the fight in her favor. When the Hood moves to kill Shang-Chi, Kate puts them down without hesitation, only for the cloak to fall away and reveal Xialing underneath. The shot was fired before she knew who she were looking at. She and Shang-Chi ride out of it together, carrying their respective losses in silence, two people who came looking for justice and found it in the same moment it cost them both something they cannot get back.
