Prince Tafari is the young third son of the King and Queen of Wakanda. As a prince without a path to the throne, he has chosen to forge his legacy as a War Dog instead. Deployed to Adwa, Ethiopia alongside veteran War Dog Kuda to recover a vibranium axe that has left Wakandan borders, Tafari arrives wide-eyed at the beauty of the outside world and chafing against Kuda's caution. When Kuda counsels restraint, Tafari refuses to wait and goes alone to retrieve the axe from a merchant's house amid the violence of the battlefield, succeeding but earning Kuda's fury in the process.

Upon retrieving the axe, the pair are confronted by a figure in a Panther suit, later revealed to be the last Black Panther and a future queen of Wakanda. She carries a dire warning: in her time, Wakanda's long history of isolationism has left the planet defenseless against an alien invasion, with catastrophic results. Tafari ultimately persuades Kuda to return the axe to its original location. On the way back, he defeats Italian forces on the battlefield, returns the axe to the merchant's house, and rescues a trapped Kuda before the two make it home. Back in Wakanda, Tafari takes full responsibility for commandeering the mission.
