Wáhta is Kahhori's younger brother. The two of them are exploring together near the Forbidden Lake when the conquistadors attack their village, and from that moment forward Wáhta becomes the personal stake underneath everything Kahhori does. He is the cautious one between them, referencing the stories their people have passed down about those who entered the lake and never came back, while Kahhori pushes forward anyway. When soldiers corner them in the cavern and one of them has Wáhta in his sights, Kahhori throws rocks to draw the threat away from him. She is shot for it and pulled through the portal, leaving him behind.

While Kahhori is in Sky World learning what the Tesseract has made her, Wáhta is taken prisoner by the conquistadors along with the rest of their village. A Sky World warrior spots one of the soldiers wearing Wáhta's necklace, and that detail cuts through whatever hesitation Kahhori still has. She pulls the portal down and goes back alone. By the time she reaches the shore, he is already being loaded onto a ship. She fights her way toward him, and when the Sky World tribe finally arrives to turn the battle, he is freed. Their reunion is the moment the whole sequence has been building toward, and it lands simply: she finds him, holds him, and tells him everything is going to be all right.
