Milestone: Becomes a founding member of The Howling Commandos
Gabe Jones is a soldier of the 107th Infantry Regiment, captured by Hydra and held in Schmidt's Austrian weapons facility alongside his fellow prisoners. He is among the hundreds of men freed when Steve Rogers storms the base to rescue the captured unit, taking up arms in the breakout that follows.
He is recruited into the elite team Rogers forms to wage war on Hydra, one of the founding Howling Commandos. Educated and quick-witted, he studied German for three semesters at Howard before switching to French, a fluency that makes him the squad's translator in the field. Armed with a heavy machine gun, he fights at Captain America's side through the campaign of raids on Hydra bases across Europe.
