Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?
Gabe Jones is one of the soldiers Hydra hauls off the line and buries inside its war factory, put to work building weapons for the very enemy that captured him. When Captain Carter smashes through to pull Bucky Barnes out, Jones is among the men she frees. He grabs a rifle and falls in beside her, trading a prisoner's number for a spot in the ragtag unit that spends the rest of the war making Hydra miserable. No serum. No armored suit. No miracle blood. Just a soldier handed a second chance who chooses to spend it charging back at the people who took his first one.
