Gio is one of the hired men in Silvermane's criminal operation, sent to do the legwork his boss requires. When Winston goes to search the missing Flint Marko's apartment, Gio comes along, the two of them combing the rooms while Ben Reilly hides in the closet just out of sight. They turn up nothing and leave without finding the detective tucked away.
Gio works as one of Silvermane's enforcers, put on Ben Reilly's trail through the night. He tails the detective through the streets, catching Ben's notice before Frankie helps shake him loose. Later he is amongst the few posted outside Ben's office window, watching the silhouette he believes to be Ben pacing inside, never realizing it is the boy Frankie casting the shape while the real Ben moves against Silvermane elsewhere.
His work turns bloodier before the night is done. He and Winston watch Ben leave the Geoffrey Hotel after the payoff to Vera Addison, and once Winston forces the truth from her, the two seize Ben and Cat Hardy at Pennsylvania Station and bring them before Silvermane in the woods. There he stands among the crime lord's men as Silvermane turns on Winston as the supposed rat and shoots him dead, Gio left standing as his fellow lieutenant falls.
Milestone: Killed by Finbar "Silvermane" Byrne
Gio appears only in a brief flashback that resolves a moment left in suspense. When Silvermane turned his gun on the rats in his operation, a second shot rang out with its target unseen, and that target is now revealed to have been Gio. The crime lord cut down both men of Winston's small circle that night, and Gio lies dead among the traitors.
