Heinz Kruger is the Nazi spy who infiltrates the secret Operation Rebirth experiment, hidden among those gathered to witness the birth of America's first super soldier. He watches as Dr. Erskine's serum transforms the frail Steve Rogers into a powerful champion, then makes his move the instant the experiment succeeds, shooting Dr. Erskine dead to ensure the super-soldier formula dies with its creator.
His treachery does not save him. As he tries to flee the newly made Captain America, Kruger blunders into a piece of the laboratory's equipment, an electrical omnivore, and is killed on the spot, taking his own life in his panic to escape the man he just watched transform.
