Nick Fury is the SHIELD operative who meets Captain Carter when she emerges from the Tesseract's portal, nearly seventy years after she vanished into it. He is present the moment she comes through, sword raised and battle-ready, still braced for the fight she was pulled out of.
He talks her down with calm authority. When Peggy demands to know where Steve Rogers is, it falls to Fury to deliver the weight of what she has lost. He tells her the war ended almost seventy years ago, breaking the news to a hero stranded far from the time she knew.
