Spider-Noir · Season 1 · Episode 4
A Mistake I'll Never Make Again
Hello and welcome fellow Marvel fans to the Snark
Industries podcast. I'm John. And I'm Remy. And
we invite you to join us as we work our way through
every Marvel TV show, movie, and crossover. Meaning
if there's a Marvel character on screen, it's
fair game. All categorized in the temporal order
of their setting. By the time we're done, we'll
have built a complete start to finish timeline
of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. To accomplish
this goal and to have a bit of fun along the
way, each episode will be split into two parts.
The watch party and the deep dive. If you're
hearing this, you found one of our watch parties.
This is where we sit down with you and experience
a piece of Marvel media together in real time,
celebrating the high points and poking fun at
the low ones, because that's what heroes do.
To get synced up, here's what you'll need to
do. Pull up the movie or episode on your screen
and pause it right as the Marvel logo is prominently
displayed. Then come back here and wait for the
three -tone countdown. On the third tone, press
play, and just like that, we'll be watching together.
Quick note, if your version includes ads, you'll
need to pause us during those breaks to stay
in sync. Once you finish watching along, we encourage
everyone to check out the deep dive as well,
where we will do an in -depth analysis of the
information we just consumed. Most importantly,
we want to thank each and every one of you for
joining us on this incredible journey. We're
not affiliated with Marvel in any way, shape,
or form. We're just fans who are passionate about
these stories and these characters and wish to
share them with everyone in a new and exciting
way. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this episode
of Stark Industries. Episode four of Spider Noir.
Noir. Previously on Spider Noir. Previously,
they left us on a cliffhanger of who got shot.
OK, so I'm thinking it's either the widow, Addison,
or the real short dude, his buddy. Yeah, it's
got... My money's on his buddy. You know, because
they were so close. It's like, oh, this was clearly...
Yeah, he knew you were obviously in it. Who's
dead? Who's dead? Let's see. Give me the spider.
Made it look like he went back to that wall to
make sure it was really. Yeah, double tap. Because
I'm the sand monster. The sand monster. Nope.
All right. And here we go. Or they're going to
do the Janet treatment and they just don't ever
say it. It's just somebody's dead. Oh, man. So
she's back. Not even going to answer our damn
questions. Yeah. I mean, unless this is a flashback,
we know she's alive. And they're going to cut
to Nick Cage who's going to be like, whoa, again
in the background like he has been every time.
Yeah. Oh, oh, oh. All right. All right. Cool,
cool, cool. Now they're all buddy, buddy. So
it wasn't Ben. It wasn't. I mean, we knew it
wasn't going to be Ben. Yeah. Yeah. That'd been
quite a while. It's different in this one. Yeah.
It's all fenced up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. There
it is. There it is. Short stack. Wait, how did
he have a grave already? They didn't dig it that
fast. Continuity. That was just them pushing
them into it. Continuity. We don't do that here.
Man, that Janet thing still bothers me. Yeah,
me too. I won't get over it. Fair. I'm glad she
just goes back to work, too. I mean, I guess
she's kind of under his thumb, but still. I don't
think she has a choice. May as well be wearing
bangles. Bangles. Oh man, full circle. She's
got to go home and plaster over a wall, a hole
in her wall. Crazy. Yeah, she needs some sand.
It's coarse and gritty. Gets everywhere. I told
you I was going to do it every episode. I expect
no less. Yeah. Nah. I don't dwell. That's good.
I like that. Hey, man. Branded once again. Yeah.
Yeah. Now, now you being, you know, doing what
you do. Is it old enough to have been in this
age? That's a good question. I want to say yes.
That feels like a pretty egregious error, if
not. Yeah, well, fair. I mean, let's not talk
about Shannon. You're the timekeeper. What year
is this set in? 1932. We're going to get to the
bottom of this mystery right now, Scooby -Doo.
This episode specifically, if I'm not mistaken,
starts on October 17th, I believe. Yellow Spot
Irish Whiskey originally started in 1805. Oh,
wow. So it was it was old by then. Mm hmm. See,
learning stuff here on Snark Industries. Yeah.
Like what happened to Janet? Amnesia. When are
we getting Electro, man? There's a couple of
faces in this intro that I don't think we've
seen yet. Mm -hmm. There's Electro. We're halfway
through with this episode. Maybe a lizard? Question
mark? Ooh. I didn't see that. You see the kind
of scaly face? Yeah. Yeah, I suppose it was kind
of a scaly guy, huh? Yeah. I mean, way to spoil
it in the intro, Spider Noir, but also show me.
I mean, we're still guessing. Yeah. Love to see
a Dr. Connor in the 30s. Oh, that'd be badass.
Well, she did add it. That was nice. It's true.
It's true. I remember my first time opening the
door. Feels like he might be a little hungover.
Yeah. I'm upset with that. That does sound pretty
mom. I mean, yeah, I would eat sausages. Yeah.
No, see, now I'm upset further. Robbie missed
a button at the bottom of his vest. I'm looking
for Easter eggs up in those signs and stuff,
but not seeing any. Yeah, that's a good spot
for him. Yeah. A 10 cent shave. Hot meals for
a nickel. Yeah. And Tommy guns. Take me back.
Yeah. It's two nickels to get that beer. And
they was that first episode, I think. Beer is
a bigger commodity, especially then. Sure, sure.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's very, very true. They
didn't have a 7 -Eleven on every corner stock
full of Bud Light. I was about to say poor bastards,
but then you said Bud Light and I changed my
mind. Nope, that hole in the wall is still there.
Bro. Just hot boxer. That's fine. God. Oh, do
it. Do it. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good one. Your
emperor voice didn't work on her. Shame. I tried,
though. You did. A forever. Well, don't be a
rat. We were kissing. She's quick on her feet.
Much like a cat. Like a cat. Yes. Yes, that is
good. Well, that's a lie. Yeah. Oh, he knows
it. Yeah, he does. God, he's such a good actor.
Yeah, agreed. Actually, everyone with one exception
has been pretty solid so far. Who? Who, Remy?
Tell us. I'm going to give you a good guess.
Three days that you quit. Mr. Mayday, that's
actually not right. Ew, that one's been in your
mouth. Right? School's out. Oh, man. I almost
did the same thing. That would have been weird
if we had both started singing at the same time.
That wouldn't have been the first time. Nor the
last, I'm sure. I thought she said Johnny Cage
for a second. I'm like, whoa. Whoa. He's watching
Mortal Kombat. He's eating a hot dog in the movie
theater. There's no end to this man's madness.
At least he's not peeling it. He's just awkwardly
holding it. He's not even eating it. He's talking
during it, too. Right. Oh, oh. All right. I hate
him. Awkward. I shouldn't be this way. But I
am. I can't help it. He held that hotline to
his ear like a telephone. God, it's very strange.
I didn't care for it. Yeah, just stop, man. What
are you doing? His interactions with food so
far have been unpleasant. Why are you laying
on your bed like that? Even when he says sausages.
Sausages. Good point. Give him a quarter for
his troubles. Kids. Yeah. Well, I mean, he's
saying things that are true. In fairness. It's
a cute little teapot. Especially the way he's
standing. Yeah. When they call them goons for
a reason, I guess. That guy's name is Pudge.
Oh, well. Checks out. Oh, Pudge is going to get
his head caved in. Well, now there's a mess to
clean up, so. Well, I mean, I don't think he
cares. I would make messes, too, if I didn't
have to clean them. Yeah. I didn't be a henchman
or two. Mm hmm. Smart. Smart. I like that angle
with the mirrors right there. That's fun. Yeah,
that is cool. Because he's a jerk. Mm hmm. You
see any seven foot people in there? Yeah. Excuse
me, I'm looking for the biggest man ever. His
skin turns to. Well, I guess this one's probably
not stone. Didn't look stone to me. No, like
a carapace. More like chitinous. Mm hmm. I guess
there's one missing. Mm hmm. Oh, man. Man, probably
littering. I think they cared in the 30s. Well,
I care in the 20s. I do, too. Fair, fair. Isn't
that wild? I know. A hundred years. Sick. No
strings attached. Including an array of hats
held on by hairpins. Crime lords are funny that
way. Yeah, right. It's almost like you should
expect it. Yeah, correct. Yeah. Good with teeth.
Hey. And then they touch butts. Then they touch
butts. With immaculate smiles. I wonder what
happened to him. Now there it is. Yeah, it's
very clear where this was going. Oh, of course,
yeah. Holes in the wall. Right. You need to widen
your circle. Yeah, her bar is so low. Dennis
was nice to me and the Sand Monster punches everything
except me. So catches all the way around. Moving
on up. Yeah. Speaking of Sandmancer, is that
him? Sandmancer. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Now he's going
to be jelly. Because that's the that's where
he was hanging out before. Yeah. He's like, oh,
my girl's got a new boo already. One night after
punching a hole in her wall. Right. Do you ever
save her life? Yeah, Sandmanster. And people's
lives would go a lot better if they would just.
Take a minute to talk to people. Yeah. And she
was sitting there concerned about talking in
a restaurant. Yeah. So she goes to a place where
people would go. All right. Choices. Just this
is pile of cigarette butts right there on the
ground. I know. Follow the soup man. Mm hmm.
He has all the soups. Taking it to the soups.
Taking the soup soups to go. Look how big that
door is. Perfect size for a giant man. Oh, he
got his bottom button fixed somewhere between
that other Santa just now. Good job, Robbie.
Yeah. Looks a bit like a Klingon with that. Yeah.
Thing they got going on the face. He just stays
like that now. He turned one time and now it's
just. Well, I guess that's what's happening with
the same. Yeah. Yeah. OK. All right. Didn't need
your sass, taxi boy. Just drive. Calm down, sir.
Yeah. Agreed. Well, it felt weird saying I agree
with him. Well, with Ben, I mean, he's a mostly
moral spider. Yeah, no, I could agree with Ben.
Just. I can't conflate the actors and the characters.
Oh, my God. Whoa. God, well, you taxi drivers
have always been crazy from the get go. Yeah,
evidently, evidently. Wow. In case you forgot
what happened three minutes ago, here's a...
That felt so comic book -y. Yeah. We'll give
them comic book -y and not just a bad idea. Yeah,
that's what I'm going to give him. Yeah. No.
I'm feeling a little gritty. I don't know. I
feel like having someone super powered, someone
that could definitely kill me under my thumb
just doesn't seem like the best idea. Like right
now he could knock his block off. He's about
to do it. I thought for a second. Yeah. How did
he convince him to come back to the office? Very
carefully. Put your little game away, Janet.
It's time to get serious. Put those papers in
the trash can. Just push them to the side. I'm
judging how these people live too much. literally
95 years ago well 94 people are still pretty
gross with their trash today so oh 100 % yeah
Oh, you got him. Now, next, a rousing game of
Parcheesi. Turn a light on. OK, here we go. Right.
How long? Why did it take him so long to get
that light switch right? It's right there. Yeah,
I know. Dramatic effect, perhaps. Why is there
a window on one of his interior walls? Is there
actually glass? Oh, let's see if they show the
angle again. Yeah. We can wash it. Yeah, there's
glass. Oh my God, there is. That's weird. It's
a window on his interior wall. That is so bizarre.
All right. I mean, you do you, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Pretty cool. I'll use the used glass. Tell me
why. Oh, man. Twice at the same episode. That
almost happened. dug deep in the barrel of adjectives
there. Mm -hmm. Touching butts. Oh, wow. I understand
that's dancing, but the... Okay, there we go.
That's a better angle. That initial one was a
little overt. A little weird. Yeah. So we're
going to find out who this fool is. This is his
Batman origin story. Right. Oh, man. That sucks.
I mean, you're that close you couldn't fire off
a web or something? Yeah. I feel like firing
off a web to the dock and the car, you could
have, like, pulled. I've seen him do stuff like
that. Well, Ben, you can't blame yourself. You
don't know that. True. She could have gotten
that taxi you were in earlier, just. Ripping
you is in the way of that taxi he was in earlier.
Yeah, right. Well. Fair, fair. Want to touch
my butt? I'm about to say. Basically the same
thing. Nice handhold. Oh, and a little finger,
a little thumb action. Finger action is something
different. It's very different. My mama. Nailed
it. Nice. Hey, Marvel, we should write for you.
Yeah, yeah. Oh, that button's unbuttoned again.
Huh. That's a good reason to cry. What was the
name of the battlefield that Ben was on to with
these guys? Battlefield six. Probably not. Oh,
we about to make a scene. Oh, yeah. Here he comes.
That dude's got some aura, I tell you. Right.
Oh wow. Oh man. Wow. Ooh, this feels like a bad
play, man. Bold move, Cotton. Let's see how it
works out. Yeah, let's see. Boy, he's going to
have some regrets very quickly. Many regerts.
Oh. Wow. So he did make a scene. Yeah. Well.
You just bop him on the head. For now. I do appreciate
that they're leaning into the green stripes and
color scheme of Sandman. That's fun. But he needs
a little bit of yellow to really sell it. I don't
practice Santorini. Oh man, stop it. I can't
help it. Oh, my goodness. That's three times.
That's exactly where it was, too. So good. Oh,
man. You're leaning too far forward, Ben. Sit
back in your chair. No, she's not even singing.
You just had a lament about Ruby. Right. That
is so Spider -Man and Black Cat. But I thought
we were touching butts. Yeah, that's the last
thing on my butt. He did tell you that. He's
got to crawl through that window and put his
suit on real quick. Yeah. Suit time. He needs
a phone booth. Doc Faber. You're literally right
there. I'm going to make you famous. God, whipslinging
is always cool. Yeah, so much fun. I don't think
I've seen a rendition of whipslinging that's
not just like, oh, that's awesome. Yeah. No,
that was less awesome. Oh. Is this our electro?
Those look pretty electric. Boogie woogie woogie.
No, no. There we go. Oh, yeah, that's cool. Hell
yeah. He deserves that for how we eat the hot
dog earlier. That's what you get for peeling
your hot dog. Yeah. And this guy's voice. Yeah.
Oof. That was a bad day. Yes. We saw it. Yeah,
right? You just pissed him off. Now you want
me to... Oh, how exciting. It's kind of getting
beat up, though. He's really not doing so hot.
Mm hmm. Yeah, there you go. He's going in there
to change it to his electro suit. Don't be so
distracted by your lady, man. I know. Amateur
move. They almost touched butts earlier. I know.
Not for this guy. So now he's probably not going
to get to touch the butts at all. I don't know.
I think she might have just realized that he's
Spider -Man. That looked like a very knowing
look. Could be. I wouldn't let him finish that.
Well, OK. Phrasing. All right. There you go.
Well, now everything's dark. Let just enough
for filming. Yeah. Oh, God, this guy's voice.
It's like he's got his nose stuffy. Well, it's
stuff full of electricity. That's the best. That
was pretty great. Tooth to horn, mayorly. Oh,
yeah. The manhole cover thrown at him is such
a classic Spider -Man thing. Yeah. Now, he didn't
grab it with a web and fling it back at him,
so I'm a little disappointed in that. Yeah, he
really needs to get some of his old tricks back.
Yeah. Yeah, I guess we're just to assume this
because he's the old man Ben here, that he's
just bad at stuff. Yeah. Buddy. So he just runs
out of juice, huh? I guess so. Interesting. What
do you mean you're out of ice? You can't run
out of ice. He's got a camera. Robbie's just
sitting there taking pictures. God, what a. Goon.
No, I don't want to. I probably don't know that
now. Oh, I do that sometimes, too. What? Goodness.
I'm pretty flexible for all this dude is. I just
sat down in my little chair. Come on, man. So
you're the spider. Still want to touch butts?
Yeah. Even more so now. Right? Tell me more about
that webbing. Clean that sink up. Yeah, and that's
where the dishes go? Yeah, that's where his used
cup was. Several. This is so aggravating to me.
Oh, man. I hope you're right. I know. What if
she was wrong? She just dies. Oh, man. Being
caught like that, though, that is 100 % out of
the books. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was fun. Yeah.
I had a hunch that that's what was going to happen
when she opened that window. Yeah, it seemed
very intentional. Yeah. Mr. Spider's my father.
Oh, now there's now there's butt touching. Oh,
yeah. Oh, yeah. That's what we call a butt cliffhanger.
Butt hanger. No, that's not good. Oh, no, no,
no, no, no. We'll see you in the deep. Thank
you for joining us in this episode of the Snark
Industries podcast. To join the conversation
and further explore the Marvel Cinematic Universe
with us, head on over to snarkindustriespod .com.
The link will be in the show notes. But with
that, we will see you in the next adventure.
New York, 1933. Picking up from the previous cliffhanger, Cat finally admits to Ben that she was behind the moves against Silvermane, unaware that Flint is listening from the rafters. Wounded by what he hears, Flint returns to offer Silvermane his services just as the crime boss learns his bought-and-paid-for officials are turning on him. Silvermane and Flint crash a gala to confront the mayor and police chief, and lines are drawn for open war. Meanwhile, Ben and Cat share a quieter moment as he opens up about losing Ruby, cut short by a radio bulletin about a disturbance downtown. Ben suits up expecting Sandman but instead faces an electricity-wielding foe the hosts identify as Megawatt, getting badly outmatched until he tears down the power lines and drains the villain's charge. The mayor seizes the moment to publicly align himself with the spider, and the episode ends with Cat throwing herself from a window, trusting Ben to catch her, which he does.

Hello and welcome, fellow Marvel fans, to the
Snark Industries podcast. I'm John. And I'm Remy.
And we invite you to join us as we work our way

Meaning if there's a Marvel character on screen,

we'll have built a complete start -to -finish
timeline of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
To accomplish this goal and to have a bit of
fun along the way, each episode will be split
into two parts, a watch party and a deep dive.
If you're hearing this, you found one of our
deep dives. This is where we slow things down
and take a more pragmatic, in -depth look at
a piece of Marvel media. We'll walk through the
full plot, explore connections to the wider MCU
and Marvel comics, highlight Easter eggs, unpack
lore, and of course, give you our own personal
thoughts and feelings. Although this episode
stands on its own, it is designed to complement
the watch party. So, if you haven't watched along
with us yet, we highly recommend starting there
first and coming back here for the full breakdown.
Most importantly, we want to thank each and every
one of you for joining us on this incredible
journey. We're not affiliated with Marvel in
any way, shape, or form. We're just fans who
are passionate about these stories and these
characters and wish to share them with everyone
in a new and exciting way. So, sit back, relax,
and enjoy this episode of Stark Industries. Hello,
ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Snark
Industries Deep Dive. We just watched episode
four of Spider Noir, A Mistake I'll Never Make
Again. John, why don't you go ahead and tell
us what that was about? All right, so we pick
back up here in the alcove, not in the random
field that we last left off on. And we have Silvermane
and Ben sitting and enjoying a couple of cocktails,
listening to Cat sing. Have a little bit of flashbacks
of the night showing the other dead body is the...
Short stack. Short stack. Is that his name? Did
he ever get a name? Yeah. I don't know his name.
That doesn't sound right. Is the second sort
of kind of in command there, the little duo who
ultimately got ousted as the traitors, the rats,
though we all know is kind of set up from the
last episode's events. They have kind of a conversation
there and Silverman actually offers to put Ben
on the payroll because he's so good, which Ben,
of course, respectfully declines with his smart
mouth who Silverman responds with, that's going
to get you killed one day, which I don't know,
feels kind of on brand. Yeah, right. So we kind
of move forward. Cat reaches out to Ben and kind
of have a discussion about everything that happened.
After she had a discussion with Silvermane as
well the next day about what she was doing there
with Ben, she kind of said, he suspected me.
He didn't trust me. Thought that I might have
been in on it, which to be fair, he did. So what
she told him was true, though deceptive in her
own way. But she goes to Ben and kind of has
a discussion with him about everything and ultimately
not willing to talk to him in this. random cafe
that they meet, goes back to the original sort
of theater where she was first discovered by
Silvermane and began working in his employ. And
they sit down on the stage and kind of have this
heart -to -heart conversation where she admits
to kind of being behind all of this, which we
kind of already figured out from context, but
she tried to deny it even so up until the very
end. But she does finally come clean with him.
Unfortunately for her, Flint, a .k .a. the Sandmaster,
up in the rafters randomly, being a weirdo, listening
to them talk. And after kind of hearing this
conversation, you know, you kind of see him sort
of all pouty, stomp off. Get a little more sandy.
Yeah, get a little more sandy and go stomping
off. Back to Silvermane to offer his services
to him once again after he's been laying low
for the, ultimately, the entirety of this story
that we've gotten so far. Silvermane then shows
up. We have this little kind of tidbit where
he's having a conversation, breaks a teapot about
how the chief of police who's in his pocket was
supposed to show up for his monthly appointments
and didn't do so. And so Silvermane sort of realizes
that this is an open act of defiance for a reason.
Not really clear what that open act of defiance
is just yet, but he wants to go make a scene.
Go make a scene, he does. He and Flint show up
to... This sort of gala that they're having that's
got the mayor and this chief of police sitting
with their wives at a table. And the men send
the women away, much to their chagrin, which
was kind of funny. They weren't so happy about
that. Yeah. The mayor, who obviously had been
bought and paid for to that seat, is kind of
standing up against Silvermane and saying, you
know, things are changing. You had a good run,
but it's over. And Flint walks in and smashes
the table with his sand fist. And everyone says,
oh, no, everything's fine. We're all cool here.
You know, don't worry about it. And they kind
of go on sort of openly declaring war against
each other. That man is an ant picking a fight
with a boot. Yeah. Yeah. He is going to get so
messed up. Well, you know, you think that. But
then again, we have him sort of playing this
extra card, which which kind of ultimately is
how this thing ends. Yeah. We'll get there. We'll
get there in a moment. So, you know, this kind
of happens and then we cut back. Kat and Ben
had left the theater then and went back to his
place and were having more of a conversation.
They kind of open up about kind of some deep
history. He shares the story to her about Ruby
and how she had died. And ultimately, we get
kind of a better understanding of his trauma,
you know, that she died because of him. He put
a guy away who, you know, was then hellbent on
revenge, came back and killed her to get to him
while he was out having. A few cocktails with
friends, it looked like. And so he sort of was
carrying that weight. And we got them, you know,
sort of bonding in this moment and leaning in
for this kiss. And then it stopped short from
a breaking news announcement on the radio that
something was happening. And he sort of like
coldly, you know, she thinks that it's Flint
showing up, this powered individual, you know,
being shown. And he. Sort of acts nonchalant
about it, like he doesn't want to help. And,
you know, we kind of understand that he's doing
that. So she's pretty hilarious. Get out of the
way so he can suit up. But she doesn't know that.
So she's, you know, now she's pouting and stomping
away. While all that's kind of happening, we
also have a scene back at the PI's office where
Robbie has went and found Lonnie, a .k .a. Tombstone,
brought him to, you know, kind of question him
about everything. Janet is there, too, and have
a hard time getting him to open up. through a
clever use of playing a game of cards, he just
decided to spill his guts about everything. Uh,
after some time, it was sort of kind of get the
story about everything that happened in these
transformations, the, uh, prisoner of war bit,
you know, that we know that at least three of
these powered individuals have came from, uh,
this unit, the, this picture that we've seen
in previous episodes. So that's all kind of playing
in the background. Uh, and as they're doing that,
the phone rings there too. And it's been now
that cat has gone and he's ready to suit up.
He tells Robbie to get his camera, go downtown.
There's some pictures to take. And he suits up
in his spider outfit and goes swinging down there
thinking that he's going to have to go take on
Flint. But as he gets there, it turns out that
it's somebody else. And we see this man sort
of standing there causing a scene. And this sort
of electricity begins crackling. And I think
we there, we've been talking about through all
of these episodes. uh you know that looks like
electro's coming we see this you know this kind
of uh electricity power on the way and everything
and and by god we thought that that was it uh
but as we do a little bit of research here on
these deep dives to to keep you all informed
it's actually a much deeper pull than that and
you know uh shockingly so but really cool i think
it was uh actually shockingly you like that it
was actually megawatt who was there and uh Ends
up doing battle with Ben sort of here where all
of these people are watching and they're kind
of making comments about how, oh man, this guy
should have stayed retired as he's getting his
butt kicked by Megawatt here in the middle of
the street. Kicked instead of touched. Yeah,
that's right. That's right. And so, you know,
they're all kind of looking and we do see Kat
there too, who does show up thinking it's Flynn,
realizing it's not, and see sort of this knowing
look as she realizes somehow. It wasn't super
clear to me. I didn't catch what we were watching.
I didn't see anything in the research, but how
she knew. But somehow it seemed like she knew
as she's watching him fight that this is the
man that she just spent the afternoon with. But
as the kind of fight goes on, Ben rips down the
power lines in the area, cutting off his access
to electrical supply. And over some time, his
juice sort of peters out and he's able to get
knocked out. to uproarous applause from the crowd.
And perhaps by design or a stroke of good luck
on the mayor's part, after having his run in
with Silvermane, he steps into the area, puts
his arm around Ben and says, I have teamed up
with the spider to make this city safe again.
And everyone cheers. And Robbie takes a ton of
pictures. And Ben says, oh, you know, his fun
spider voice that he's been doing is sort of
against it. And everything seems to sort of culminate
there. And then ultimately we get one kind of
final scene to sort of give us that little bit
of touchback as he's going back home. It's like
stretching out after having ultimately a pretty
big battle with Megawatt. And Cat shows back
up again, opens the window, sits down and has
a smoke and says, am I right? And he's like,
well, I don't know what you're talking about.
and throws herself actually he's like well probably
but i don't know what you're talking about yeah
right throws herself out the window in the hopes
that he will catch her and uh you know like i
said i don't know how she sort of figured out
that he was him but luckily she was right or
else he would have been a splatter on the sidewalk
but he catches her uh with his web in a very
very uh i mean almost direct yeah shot by shot
pull from the You know, sort of famous Gwen scene,
although this time she doesn't die. Spoiler.
Well, yeah, it helps that there are two webs.
Yeah, correct. Pulls her back up and then they
sort of embrace and share this kiss as the credits
for this episode roll. Kind of the breakdown
of what happened. Yeah. You know, I said a little
bit of a broken record here again, but in terms
of tie ins, not really still into the MCU as
this once again is just kind of a standalone
thing. So I feel like a lot of that's already
been covered, you know, in terms of outside of
just kind of character names that, you know,
we would recognize and things like that. We don't
see a whole lot of actual tie -ins here as this
is a standalone Sonyverse. Not only, you know,
Sonyverse made, but also even with what it's
doing is made to be its own sort of place. Yeah,
right. So, yeah, it's as far removed as you can
be, but that doesn't detract from how... how
fun it is and how cool it is in its own right.
But that being said, I feel like especially here
with the introduction of some new characters,
there's some good comic tie -ins. So why don't
you go over that with us, Remy? Yeah. As you
mentioned, Megawatt enters the ring, which is
pretty exciting. Dirk Leighton. In the comics,
he is an Australian gentleman, an ex -convict.
He's not very well. Known in the comics, he's
pretty deep cut. But the power level that they
portrayed, I can kind of see the reason that
they went with Dirk instead of with Electro,
because Electro is a very consistent power. Dirk
shoots off a lot of electricity. He is a much
more much more of a powerhouse. And in the noir
comics, especially the ones that are currently
running, Electro is in there, but he's. crazy
overpowered in that book. So I think they went
with megawatt simply because of the power level,
pure speculation, but it does make a lot of sense
because otherwise megawatt is one hell of a strange
poll, but I love it. I'm all about that. But
as you mentioned, uh, the cat Hardy falling out
the window thing was very, very Gwen Stacy. And
It's pretty great that Kat, of all people, knows
who Spider -Man is, or the spider is. Because
in the comics, that is kind of their whole relationship.
Their entire relationship is based off the fact
that she knows and she always dangles it in front
of his face that she knows. It's very much Kat
and Spider -Man behavior. So I kind of love that.
As far as recommended reading, you've got the
noir books that I've already talked about. I
do highly recommend the... current Spider -Noir
run. I know I've mentioned it before, but if
you want to see the introductions of people like
Felicia Hardy or Black Cat, you can start with
Spider -Man number 194, which is a really good
book if I do say so myself. But that's pretty
much it as far as Easter eggs and comic polls
and source material. Overall, what'd you think?
How'd you like it? So I actually really liked
this one. This might've been my favorite episode
that's happened thus far. in the series we kind
of get the fleshing out of some stories which
you know kind of the culmination of what's been
happening thus far in terms of uh relationships
building and story arcs and stuff like that so
to kind of see you know how we're gonna have
flint ultimately because i mean you know it was
not really clear i mean obviously he was kind
of going through some stuff but not really clear
how he was going to be or like where his allegiances
would lie at the end of it but then seeing You
know, how he overhears this conversation and,
oh, you know, my cat is, you know, trying to
kill Silvermane, you know, and goes and he's
a pouty boy after that. You know, we kind of
said that, too. Yeah, I thought that was pretty
spot on. Spot on. But, you know, like I said,
to see these various sort of things kind of come
to fruition. So now we've kind of got the stage
set. You know, we've got this war effectively
coming between Silvermane and. The government
that ultimately he had paid off, but they are
standing against him now. And he's kind of got
this, I don't want to say army, but kind of of
super individuals, you know, that that are kind
of around him and stuff like that. But ultimately,
then we have Spider, who Ben, who is going to
be standing, although not. On purpose, because
not willingly, I guess, with with the mayor and
with the chief. But ultimately, I think just
for the sake of good, I think all that will kind
of come through as as it goes along. But like
the setting the stage at that point. Really well
done. The fight scene with Megawatt was very,
very cool. Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing
more of him. Yeah. And I do hope that as as the
show continues, I think what is this kind of
the halfway point of this season here? I do hope
that as it continues and Ben is sort of shaking
off the dust more and more after having taken
several years off from the job, that we'll see
him get a little bit more... Agile? Yeah, just
a little bit more Spider -Man -ish. You know
what I mean? Yeah, that'd be nice. The fight
scene, like I said, was very well done. It was
very cool. I love to see how he was very clearly
outmatched until... The power level of megawatt
sort of dwindled down, you know, so he just kind
of had to endure it. But I mean, still, you know,
the the the agility, the spider sense, you know,
the things that Spider -Man is kind of known
for just still isn't there or not very good.
But I think that's obviously by design. It's
not it's not like, you know, they don't know
what they're doing. It's they're making him to
be this tired old version, you know, that's that's
taken so many years away from doing all of it.
So I do hope that it kind of gets better in terms
of like him getting more kind of inform as time
goes on. He's obviously kind of embraced the
suit again. He's used it, you know, more than
one episode now to go and do things. Right. So
but yeah, I said this was my favorite one so
far. I really, really want to see kind of what
happens next and the culmination of what they're
doing here. So, yeah, I'm a I'm a fan. I'm a
fan. How about yourself? Yeah, completely agree.
I'm. stoked to see such an odd poll of characters.
Dirk is an interesting choice, and I am very
interested to see why they chose him. Maybe they
wanted to kill someone off and then have Electro
in the future, or they just needed the power
level to match. Whatever the case may be, I'm
excited to see where they go with him. I kind
of like that we're seeing Flint go the more villainous
direction. I like him as a sympathetic character
as he's in the comics, but there's also a point
where Sandman's got to be Sandman. So I'm glad
that we're getting a little bit of that. He'll
probably swing back at some point. But I like
I like seeing the characters in their full force.
So that that'll be a lot of fun to watch. Overall,
I I'm into it. I absolutely. This show is corny
and it's I mean, Nick Cage is absolutely ridiculous,
but it's so much fun. Yeah. Those Nick Cage moments
are hard to. What you're saying to. Sorry, I
didn't mean to interrupt you there, but just
I did want to mention as you were talking about
kind of the characters coming to their full power,
you know, and everything else. I'm curious to
see what they do with Tombstone. Because he's
very clearly kind of off the tracks of what I
know of, at least in, you know, and your comic
knowledge is far more than mine is. But, you
know, he's kind of way off track from that to
seem like he's. genuinely just a good guy you
know he's you know a good but broken guy that
went through this thing but he's otherwise playing
nice with everybody and you know defending people
that need it and you know so i'll be curious
to see if they do that if that's the direction
they want to take him or if they're gonna you
know something's gonna happen that's gonna kind
of push him the other way later on um and everything
else because they're i mean clearly so far at
least tombstone has been the most liberties taken
with an individual character that i can tell
you know like Everyone else seems pretty on brand
for what they're about. You know, even if they
like with Kat and Hardy, they kind of change
the name and everything else. But she's still
right. More or less the same kind of, you know,
that that we're used to. Right. So, yeah, that
is something just kind of speaking on that same
lines of what you were saying. I'd be curious
to see where they go with that. Yeah, it's a
good call out because he is definitely playing
the sympathetic character in Tombstone. as i
remember him has never been a synthetic character
sandman absolutely sure yeah but yeah it's an
interesting choice maybe the old switcheroo because
yeah it's fun but yeah otherwise uh anything
else left to say i don't believe so on to the

Snark Industries reaches the midpoint of Spider-Noir with an entry both hosts name as their favorite of the run so far. The full plot gets walked through, from the resolution of the cliffhanger to Cat finally coming clean with Ben, to Flint overhearing the confession and storming back to Silvermane's side. The larger board gets set as Silvermane and a newly emboldened mayor openly declare war, Robbie and Janet coax Lonnie into spilling the story behind the powered veterans, and Ben suits up expecting Sandman only to face a different electric threat entirely. The episode closes on a near shot-for-shot homage to a famous Spider-Man moment, this time with a very different outcome. Comic connections stay character-driven, with the hosts digging into the unusual choice of villain, the way Cat's knowledge of Ben's identity mirrors her comic relationship with Spider-Man, and the notably heavy liberties taken with Tombstone's sympathetic portrayal. Personal thoughts are enthusiastic throughout, with genuine excitement about the war being set in motion and continued affection for the show's committed corniness.

Synopsis
At the Alcove, Silvermane shares a table with Ben and lays out where things stand now that his "disloyal bodyguard" has been dealt with, even floating Ben a place on the payroll and admitting that Chief McNamara, like much of the police, answers to him. Cat, for her part, brings Ben to the run-down theatre where Silvermane first found her singing and finally tells the truth: it was she who set Addison loose on the old man and she who tipped the police, all in a desperate bid to break free of a controlling and vicious protector. Her confession, overheard, drives the failing Flint Marko away from her. He turns instead to Silvermane, filling the void left by the late Winston to become the old man's main enforcer. Across town, Robbie and Janet befriend and press Lonnie for answers about the powered veterans.
Mayor Morris squares off against Silvermane and openly declares war on the crime boss, drawing a near public battle line against the man who has run New York from the shadows for years. Not long after, a new figure tears through the Diamond District, a stranger hurling lightning from his bare hands, and the Spider arrives expecting Flint only to find a man he does not know but seems excited to fight famed old hero. The fight batters Ben until his opponent burns through his own power and drops, and as the crowd cheers, Morris seizes the moment, posing with the masked hero and proclaiming, against Ben's mild protests, that the Spider stands with his campaign. Alone with Ben in his apartment afterward, Cat fits the pieces together and names him as the Spider. To force the truth into the open, she throws herself from the window. Saving her from her fall, the two come together in a kiss that changes everything between them.

Comic Roots
Where the episode's people and places come from on the page.
The episode's deepest cut. In the comics, Dirk Leyden is an obscure villain who gains electrical powers and clashes with Spider-Man under the name Megawatt before slipping custody and reinventing himself. He is a minor figure, far from the marquee rogues, which makes his arrival here notable: this is the character's first live-action appearance of any kind. The series folds him into its own mythology of war-damaged, slowly dying powered men rather than treating him as a standalone gimmick villain.
The Black Cat, Felicia Hardy, is one of the few figures in Spider-Man's world who has long known the man under the mask, and whose romance with him is built on that knowledge. By having Cat deduce Ben's identity and close the distance with a kiss, the series leans directly into the dynamic that defines her relationship with Spider-Man on the page.

Where to go next if the episode left you wanting more.
The first appearance of the Sinister Six, and the template for a powerful figure assembling a crew of powered villains, the pattern Silvermane is beginning to follow.
The debut of Joe Robertson, useful for measuring how far the show has placed him from his eventual role atop the Bugle.
The first appearance of Tombstone. A good comparison to see the divergence that the show is taking.
A good comparison between the capabilities of Megawatt vs Electro. Here, Electro is extremely powerful for the setting. Spider-Noir seems to have placed Megawatt in his place for this reason. Plus, the art is BEAUTIFUL!
The Snark File
Easter eggs, callbacks and technical tidbits.
"Leydon," not "Leyden."
The episode's own credits spell the electric villain's surname "Leydon," a half-step off from the comics' "Dirk Leyden." A small discrepancy worth knowing for anyone cross-referencing the character against his source.
Jameson's Job, Handed to a Politician
With no J. Jonah Jameson anywhere in this world, the role of the loud public figure shaping the city's opinion of the masked hero falls to Mayor Morris, who turns the Spider into a campaign prop. The show keeps the press-and-perception machinery of the comics while swapping the newspaperman for a crooked candidate.
