Spider-Noir · Season 1 · Episode 7
Nobody's Hero
Hello and welcome, fellow Marvel fans, to the
Snark Industries podcast. I'm John. And I'm Remy.
And we invite you to join us as we work our way
through every Marvel TV show, movie, and crossover.
Meaning if there's a Marvel character on screen,
it's fair game. All categorized in the temporal
order of their setting. By the time we're done,
we'll have built a complete start -to -finish
timeline of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
To accomplish this goal and to have a bit of
fun along the way, each episode will be split
into two parts, a watch party and a deep dive.
If you're hearing this, you found one of our
watch parties. This is where we sit down with
you and experience a piece of Marvel media together
in real time, celebrating the high points and
poking fun at the low ones, because that's what
heroes do. To get synced up, here's what you'll
need to do. Pull up the movie or episode on your
screen and pause it right as the Marvel logo
is prominently displayed. Then come back here
and wait for the three -tone countdown. On the
third tone, press play, and just like that, we'll
be watching together. Quick note, if your version
includes ads, you'll need to pause us during
those breaks to stay in sync. Once you finish
watching along, we encourage everyone to check
out the deep dive as well, where we will do an
in -depth analysis of the information we just
consumed. Most importantly, we want to thank
each and every one of you for joining us on this
incredible journey. We're not affiliated with
Marvel in any way, shape, or form. We're just
fans who are passionate about these stories and
these characters and wish to share them with
everyone in a new and exciting way. So, sit back,
relax, and enjoy this episode of Stark Industries.
Here we go. I am Optimus Prime. No, you'll be
rich. It's not cat now. I know. He gave you like
$10 million, basically. I don't think she knows
that yet. She might not even know. Ultimately,
because he's not leaving now. Or did he leave
that money and then. Then get taken. And maybe
if she's driving a Bentley or something, we'll
know. Yeah, I mean, she could. She could think
she's he's just gone. Like nobody knows he's
gone except for cat. And she probably knows where
he is. They're not showing any of the crazy body
horror stuff in the recap. That makes me happy.
Very kind of them. Well, maybe it's not over
yet. Oh, no. Couldn't make it through. That's
not as bad as the spiders coming out of his holes.
Fair. Or him discovering his webbing. There's
still time, Ben. There's still time. There's
always time. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Nope. Nope. We're
getting flashbacks. At least it's not the little
floating bubble flashback nonsense. Start banging
on piano keys. That's how you know you're upset.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's also absolutely wasted.
Has the world's tiniest watch. Probably makes
it easy to play piano. It's like pool. You get
two beers in, you're like an expert. Yeah, dialed
in. You suck. These balls are moving on their
own, I swear. Oh, yeah. She's really upset. Yeah.
Yeah. Man, that's a good way to get a piano out
of tune. That's tickling the ivories in the weirdest
way. No. Tickling the ivories? Yeah. Why? That's
a real saying. Is that a term? Yeah. Oh, I just
learned something new. Oh, yeah. You're welcome.
Jeebus. Oh, man. Not making. Come on, Finn. Oh,
yeah, yeah, yeah. Blonsky. Oh, man. That's a
weird thing to say. Well, Ben was probably there.
Yeah. I betrayed Ben just a few minutes ago.
We were going to go to Santorini. Ooh. I don't
like your attitude. What do you call it? Piss
and vinegar? Yeah, it's piss and vinegar. Just
the kid, right? That's amazing. Okay. Well, that's
not fun. Yeah. Ooh. That's a good villain energy.
Didn't have to say a whole lot to him. Get him
all excited. Yeah, he's like, yeah, don't tell
me twice. Oh, man, he's such a good villain.
Yeah, he's got good villain energy. Yeah. He's
just having fun. Fighting is the point. That
man's last name, Pupula. I know, yeah, that's
a heck of a last name. It kills me. You know,
I'm not saying that we need to go back to that,
but there are certain names that maybe you should
find a stage name. Yeah. Or, you know, just be
proud of yourself. Yeah, yeah. It's 2026. If
you want to go on there and call yourself Pupula,
you do it. Right. Right. What's up? I'm popular.
Yeah. Yeah. We need some more web slinging. Yeah.
We're not getting enough web slinging. Yeah,
that's true. We've not seen enough spider action
for this to be a spider show. Well, I mean, we're
in the. pent ultimate episode. So these are the
time where you would really get into it. We've
seen some, they've teased us a little bit. These
last two episodes, I need to be blown away with
spider, spider action. I mean, these, these guys
were just sent out to cause mayhem. So I assume,
may assume we're going to see a little bit mischief
and mayhem. Morris, that fool. I believe in you.
Oh, this is where the mayhem is going to start.
Oh yeah. In the. You know what? In the pamphlet
packing facility. Well, that wasn't the move.
Nope. Nope. I'm clapping for you. I am an actor.
Shut up and laugh at my material. Oh, you know
what? That's really funny. Megawatt was an actor.
The Dirk was an actor, an Australian actor. Oh,
there you go. So his theatrics do kind of make
sense. Oh, no, sir. Well, I don't like that.
Good for Flint. Good for Flint. Yeah. Like we'll
kill, we'll cause mayhem, but none of that. Oh,
we're going to see a showdown between those two.
That could be interesting. I don't think Flint
will do so well. Just because I'm a bad guy doesn't
mean I'm a bad guy. Yeah, that's that's him.
Dirk, that guy is a bad guy. Yeah. Nope. Nope.
Nope, I don't. Oh, we're playing that game. Mm
hmm. Put that money in the sack. Oh, I really
like Flint. Why are you such a close talker?
He's creepy. Yeah. Yeah. I think they are trying
really hard to make you not like him. And boy,
they are succeeding. Mm hmm. Nailed it. Shouldn't
you be in Santorini? She's got a fresh hat. Mm
-hmm. Why didn't you come earlier? You know,
for Prohibition, everybody's drinking all the
damn time. We've got all that you can handle.
But to be fair, we learned from Silvermane that
his drink is not great. Yeah. Swill. I like that
camera angle with the glass. That's fun. So which
class is she? OK, she gave her the heavier poor.
Liar, you ratted him out. Yeah, yeah, we know
that that's not true. You jerk. Give her all
the information. No. If you're actually worried.
Fess up. Rip a cigarette right there in the middle
of the office. Very disappointed in her. Yeah.
Yeah. That was your time. That pivot point could
have still come out pretty clean. Well. Semi
-clean. You still ratted him out. I'd like to
talk to Robbie. Send me to the third desk from
the left. Oh, I don't like the noises those fans
are making. Boy, that's some ambiance. Oh, that
explains the hallway. Yeah. He's got to control
his fluid better. No, I don't like that. Maybe
that's why he drinks so much. He needs hydraulic
fluid. Yeah. This guy's like, please leave my
bar. Power of the sun. Come on, A -Man. Yeah.
Staying in business, but having one customer,
apparently. Right. Mm -hmm. My money. To the
money area. Wah. Point at it like that was necessary.
You picked this fight, man. It's a good start.
Well, they touch each other. God, he's such a
weenie. Yeah. Wiener. Kick the hornet's nest
and then ask somebody else to save you. Oh, sick
burn. Yes. No, just stating the facts, man. Man.
Oh, wow. Like never ending story flashbacks.
Now say you're like a three legged horse in quicksand.
What? It's so specific, sir. A four legged horse
in quicksand would also be kind of. Kind of screwed.
Yeah, kind of screwed. Yeah. Why did they get
all close to him? And there's a whole bar. Yeah,
it's urinal etiquette. Skip every other booth
or every other. Absolutely. Especially if there
are multiple people and loud. This man is wallowing.
You can tell. The spider? That's weird. Why?
Oh, man. Keep them coming, Eamon. Okay, Nick.
You've made so many maybes. Don't push the maybe,
baby. Oh, God. Oh, boy. Oh, there it is. Okay.
I was going to say, I don't think he's changing
minds today. Yeah. Are we about to see Ben make
another good decision? Maybe. He just kills those
guys. That'd be so messed up. We got drunk spider.
Yeah. Oh, is he actually? Oh, no, Ben. I bet
his spider outfit is just his regular clothes
with that mask. Right. It does make it easier.
Like you said, he doesn't need a phone booth.
Yeah. He's just got it in his pocket. Yeah, it's
in his pocket. Oh, God, he's actually Ben. He's
doing it. Yeah, he's doing it. Ben. Come on,
man. Because that's what heroes do. We need Ogden
back. Yeah. Oh, my God. That guy's dead. Yeah.
Man alive. He's not even going easy. Back there
with the baseball bat. Well, not anymore. Classic.
Classic. Yep. Oh. That was right on his, well.
Yeah, right on his liver spot. Open wound. Well.
Spiders have livers in weird places. That's what
I've learned from this show. Oh, they don't have
to show the opening for the web. He's just yelling
web every time he shoots it. Right. Nick Cage,
please go home. You're drunk. Go home. Yeah,
Nick. Nick. Jesus. Oh, boy. Looks a little spider
hammy with his mask all. Sticking out like that.
Yeah. Amazing Spider -Man. I'm here beating people
up. There is absolutely no way he's seeing through
those right now. Yeah, it's pulled up too high.
Yeah, his eyes are like mid midfold. I mean,
do they just all know that it's him now? He literally
walked outside and came right back in the same
clothes and beat them all up. I mean, at least
Ogden does. Not Ogden, excuse me. Yeah, the bartender.
Yeah. Amen. Hey, man. Hey, man. Hey, coach. McConaughey.
He always adds one or two extra words that he
doesn't need to. Judas. Again, why don't you
just go talk to her? Right. I mean, she did do
that, but you could at least get an explanation
instead of being a sad boy and beating up civilians.
Not the way to handle your trauma. No, you just
wrote about me on constantly saying I needed
to come back. If he throws up, I'm turning my
computer off. I think that's fair. He does the
glassy -eyed stare very well. That bottom button's
unbuttoned again. Is this a fashion choice? I
think, well, I mean, aren't you supposed to unbutton
your bottom button? I know that's for suit jackets,
but I'm just, I'm giving him the benefit, man.
Fashionistas, correct me if I'm wrong. Yeah,
maybe that was the 30s thing. Yeah, in the 30s,
men didn't button their vest all the way. Yeah,
pull the soldier card. Yeah, you're not dying.
dropping truths robbie yeah thank you robbie
he's probably closest to true north in this show
he's close yeah but for sure very uh selfishly
driven for his job yeah you know survival which
is fair Getting in a hole is what got him in
this mess. Isn't it always? Oh, man. I don't
like that face. Quit making a pouty, pouty face.
Oh, pouty spider. Yeah. Spider pout. Oh, because
his liver. I guess he wouldn't know that Ogden
and Faber didn't get out. I mean. He could probably
assume so. Yeah, maybe. Oh. She knew the whole
time. That's hilarious, right? That's pretty
great. Why is he always? Yeah. What's with the
what's with the eyes detaching from the mask?
Yeah. And every time he's just drunk. Yeah. Well,
apparently that's just when he spills his beans.
So I've been drunk a number of times in my life.
I've been so drunk that I've told you this several
times. I don't remember any of them. That's exactly
what I'm. Yeah. Thank you. he is very yellow
yeah yeah no kidding he has not been spidery
morally nor actually yeah yeah it says antidote
can't you read janet god labels even facing you
yeah What are you doing in my apartment? Touching
my fabrics. Knocks. Ben comes through the window.
Silverman lets himself in. He just appears out
of the shadows constantly. It's poor girl. Lack
of privacy. Oh, yeah, he's taking the antidote.
Oh, he's taking it. Yeah, this man got some reasons
to not be all sandy. Gets everywhere. It's coarse.
It's gritty. Adjective, adjective, adjective.
Verb. He's dropping good lines, though. I find
his delivery to be a little coarse. Well, of
course you do. That was my one. Sorry. Carry
on. Scratch your eyes out. I don't love him too
much because he was just taking an arachna. I'm
not going to finish what I'm saying. Webbing,
we'll say. Yeah, yeah. Ben showed you his web
shooters. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, the implications.
There's a way out. If any of you would just go
talk to Ben. Yeah. Right. Then we get a pouty
cat too. You touched his butt. That's true. You
did do that. All those things. Yeah, you did
all those things. And then confessed that you
were going to kill Silverman. Man, that is why
I was trying to run. Yeah. Multiple times. This
is three attempts to run. Yeah. Oh, have a cry
about it. I keep trying to get out. They keep
pulling me back in. Now she made a lot of doses.
That might say, yeah. How does he know the correct
dose? Mm hmm. You think you found them all? Maybe.
I don't think so. I'm going to use all that up.
And then next season, someone's going to pop
in. They're going to figure out how to make it
again. He's not thinking in season. It's going
to be like, here, take some of my liver juice.
There's my motto. That's my motto. Get that tattooed
somewhere. No power comes no response. That would
actually be a pretty funny tattoo. Oh, man. Look
at me wrong. Look at me wrong. Period there,
Ben. This is wrong. Dude, bro. Give me a bottle
of whiskey to vote for Hudson. Again, prohibition.
This is the year that prohibition ends, though.
I know, but it's still illegal. Well. Yeah, they
have, what is this, October? They got two more
months of prohibition. Oh, let's see. There's
your motivation. That's basically exactly what
Sandman told him. Oh, he hit him with the brother.
Oh. He's saying he knows him better than this.
Well, he did let him talk to him. Well, you just
walked in and kicked him in the chest, bro. Well,
that's not how you start conversation. Throw
that horse at him. Oh, give it time. They've
shown it too many times for it not to become.
Oh, swing. Oh, no, never mind. Oh, that was very
short lived. Oh. Say that's all Nick Cage right
there. I live for the pain, bro. Stop. That's
not going to go through the skin. Yeah. What
are you thinking? It's bulletproof, man. Oh,
there's one. One vial wasted. I live for the
pain. Obviously. Are you going to break two?
Are you going to break? Okay, that one didn't
break. No, that one's just convenient for Robbie.
What are you going to do? Are you going to stab
him in the eye or something? The nose? Oh, that
would suck. Both. Hey. Oh, shit. I was right.
Oh, my God. Oh, no. Oh, no. I don't want it.
I don't want it. Oh, no. I don't want it. There's
no end to my upsetness right now. Oh, God. Pull
it out, man. Oh, I hate it. I didn't like that
at all. Oh, look at that. I don't do that. Okay.
Whoa. No police brutality, please. No. Performance
issues, not uncommon. Yeah, not uncommon. What,
three out of five men or something? Oh, golly.
He's not super apparent, but that's still a giant
man. Yeah. Yeah, he may not be bulletproof, man.
He still kick your ass. Yeah. Should have just
taken the car without the door. Throw him in.
There's your hat. Oh, man, we need side skirts
back like that. Yeah. It's like getting cars
as it's speeding away. That's right. And time
agains. I'm glad the cops are just like, so anyways,
I started blasting. You stabbed me in the eye,
bro. Oh, in the eye. Luckily, it somehow did
no damage to his eye. Wow, he was still tombstone
-y. Yeah, well, apparently his eyes are too stony.
You're absolutely right. Yeah. That ain't right.
At least they got the hat. Yeah. Was he purring?
Probably. Get this man a hot dog to peel. See,
I'm more upset about that than the body horror.
I'm upset about both. Well, fair, fair. No, I'm
most upset about the eye stab. Oh, that made
my whole body cringe. Why is he doing that? The
priest. Robbie stabbed me in the eye. This place
is very blue. That's Robbie's contrast color.
Notice that's always behind him when he's wearing
his orange suit. Because that's what heroes do.
Questionable. That needle's kind of knocking
back and forth. Right. I knew it. Heroin. Yep.
Okay. Oh, man. That's about right. He's got news.
Red light district. Weird response. Yeah. Not
everyone likes it. That's why I asked Lonnie.
My eye hurts, but we're good. This man, Lonnie's
the flip -floppinest dude I think I've seen.
Yeah. Like he was like having a good guy kind
of vibe for a little while. And then he was like,
oh, no, I'm a villain now. And then he's like,
oh, step in the eye. Oh, I'm good again. Well,
I mean, being hunted by the police and down on
his luck and yada, yada, et cetera, et cetera.
Being all transformed and being considered a
monster. I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I
don't necessarily, you know. It's not a huge
leap, but, you know, it's not necessarily a step
either. No, no, I'll buy it begrudgingly. I'm
glad he got a happy ending. Well, maybe. Oh.
What do we got a Lonnie tingle? Oh, man, it's
my Lonnie tingle. That's his mom's. I like it.
I know, I know. But he started reaching to the
back of his neck. I'm like, what is happening?
He's taking her to Niagara Falls. That is a big
man. He's totally not going to die or something
on the way. I hope not. I don't feel like Silverman's
the type that just lets people go, you know?
Yeah. Come on, man. Pudge. Goddamn. sobbing like
a baby. That's rude. Oh. Yeah, he's taking it.
What do you think? Are we going to go up against
Spider versus Spider and well, Spider and Flint
versus Megawatt because he's going to flip. Now
he knows there's an antidote. Look at that. Look
at that. Absolutely flippin'. Look at how his
face is doing. Mm -hmm. Oh, boy. That's not what
you want. That's a conflict of interest. All
right. Well, that's a good place to leave the
penultimate episode. That's right. Almost there.
To the deep dive. Thank you for joining us in
this episode of the Snark Industries podcast.
To join the conversation and further explore
the Marvel Cinematic Universe with us, head on
over to snarkindustriespod .com. The link will
be in the show notes. But with that, we will
see you in the next adventure. Almost there.
New York, 1933. Ben has gone to ground, drinking alone while Cat and Janet wonder where he is and the planned escape falls apart. When a group flush with Silvermane's stolen campaign cash mocks the washed-up spider to his face, Ben masks up and thrashes them, then gets hauled back to Robbie's office to sober up and split the antidote into doses. Silvermane's powered enforcers rampage through the city to swing an election, while Flint confronts Cat over her betrayal and warns that Silvermane will eventually piece together what she did. Ben and Robbie track down Lonnie, and after a brutal fight, Robbie cures him with the antidote, restoring the good man beneath the Tombstone shell and sending him off toward a new life. In the aftermath, both the police and Silvermane's men recover a vial each, and both the mayor and Silvermane, unaware they mean the same man, give the same order: "Get me Ben Reilly."

and enjoy this episode of Stark Industries. Hello,
ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Deep
Dive for Snark Industries. We just got done watching
Nobody's Hero, which is episode seven of season
one of Spider Noir. John, what was that about?
All right. So after the big events of the last
episode, Ben is on the lam, as it were, seemingly,
as we have Cat show up at his office looking
for him. Janet, who's packing up. Everything
because everything's closing down and he's going
away with her. Greats are there and they kind
of have this exchange where neither of them knows
where Ben is. And clearly the move isn't happening
now. So it's all kind of very strange. Yeah.
And then we kind of get a cut over to where Ben
actually is, which is in a little bar somewhere
by himself. The only customer drinking his sorrows,
drinking his sorrows away. and everything else
and just kind of going through and he talks about
this antidote and the bartender's like, yeah,
the antidote, that's why I'm in business talking
about alcohol when he's talking about this removal
of his powers, which is kind of a funny exchange.
As that's kind of happening, we have Silvermane
who sends out his goons to go start wreaking
havoc on the city so that he can get his newly
appointed mayoral candidate elected. And they
show up. at the, what's the word I'm looking
for here? The campaign area? The campaign, yeah.
Center? Campaign prep, I guess. Yeah, yeah. We're
good at this, everyone, is what I'm trying to
say. So they show up there. It's Flint and it's
Megawatt, Sandman and Megawatt. I think they
use their power names here since they're doing
stuff. Comes in, sort of roughs people up, a
couple of cops. goes to the back where all the
campaign donations are. Campaign center is the
word I was looking for. There you go. Now we're
back on track and heads to the back where all
this money is and steals it all to sort of give
out to people so that they'll vote for the other
guy, which is, I mean, a good way to secure some
votes. Give me a big stack of money. You know,
maybe, but yeah, vote for Pedro. I'm here. All
right. So we have that happening. And of course,
now. One of these sort of groups who's been on
the receiving end of this generous donation for
the other candidate shows up at the same bar
that Ben's at, ready to spend all this money
on booze. Because, you know, that's what you
should do with it. Go get drunk. And they kind
of sit down and they talk about the new mayor
coming and everything that's happening. And they're
sort of poking fun about how the spider is washed
up and everything else is part of this sort of
tirade that these guys are having. They're clearly
just there for... Really a good time. You know,
they're not doing anything. I don't think they
have a pocket. But Ben, of course, being the
spider. Except for it's too close to him. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, sitting uncomfortably close to the
one other person in the bar when there's plenty
of other places to sit. I agree. That's kind
of a party foul. Not cool, man. Not cool. Yeah.
But they're kind of heckling the spider a little
bit, not realizing, of course, how could they
know that Ben is the spider and he's sitting
there listening. And he has a sort of drunken.
response to them. He's like, you know, I don't
have any feeling and feel the burn and all this
stuff. And they just, of course, all just laugh
at him because who wouldn't at a response like
that? I would. Yeah, I would. I was laughing
right along with him. Where'd you get this guy?
Yeah. So he goes outside after kind of, you know,
being shut down and made fun of even not knowingly
from these these men that are in here to drink.
Puts on his mask and goes back inside to completely
and totally beat the crap out of all of them
for no reason whatsoever. And this man still
has a secret identity. Yeah. I mean, literally
the same outfit and everything. And he just literally
steps out the door, puts on a ski mask effectively
and walks back inside with the same shirt, pants,
shoes and everything else on and just beats them
all. You know, wild behavior. But that's what
happens. Wild. Yeah, absolutely wild. And we
have Robbie kind of show up here to go in and
retrieve him from this bar. And, you know, what
are you doing, man? Robbie, I'm drunk or whatever.
And so it takes him back to his office, sits
him down. And he's sort of drunkenly talking
to both of them and reveals to Janet that he's
the spider. Oh, big shocker. And then we have
a flashback where he's apparently been so drunk
that he's done so several times in the past and
doesn't remember any of them, which is another.
Wonderful to remember this one. Just he is drunk.
Yeah. How will he forget another time? I would
I should assume so. But anyway, that's kind of
what happens there. And, you know, as he's starting
to sober up, he gets to work on putting these
antidote vials not for himself, because, as Robbie
says, he's really a good person, though. We just
gave a lot of examples of how that's not. entirely
accurate, begins working on putting the antidote
that he took in the previous episode into separate
vials. It looks like he's got five or six doses
that he sort of puts in a pouch. Meanwhile, back
at Kat's apartment, place of living, wherever
she's at, Flint shows up awkwardly standing in
one of her rooms uninvited, rubbing her clothes.
And they have a conversation with that. Basically,
he shows his hurt. from how she did things effectively.
You know, he realized he was not scared of dying,
but, you know, basically said, hey, you didn't
even let me die first before you went and moved
on to this guy talking about Ben and sharing
all your secrets. And that's that's what hurts
me. I'm not afraid of the dying part of this,
even though that's what's happening with these
powers, as we've discussed in the past. But what
the heck? You know, and to which case I say,
fair point, Flint. That was a pretty low move
on your part. And so they kind of have that conversation.
And he basically says, listen, I'm not going
to tell Silverman what you did. But he's going
to figure it out because he's not an idiot. So
do with that what you will. They obviously still
care about each other, but it's just there's
obviously a tension there. And I think a valid
one really ultimately because of her actions.
Though he definitely punched a hole in her wall,
which was not necessary, too. So not entirely
her, but I would give it like 80 -20 her to him
of who's in the wrong here. But they have that
conversation to move on. And as these powered
men continue kind of like knocking around and
causing this mischief and mayhem outside, Robbie
says, hey, let's go to Lonnie first. Let me talk
to him before you go in knocking down the door
in your spider suit, Ben. And Ben agrees. And
they kind of show up there. Robbie tries to talk
to him, and it's very clear, very quickly, that
Lonnie's not having it. Tombstone is going to
be Tombstone, and he can just get over it. And
then Ben, of course, swings in, kicks him to
the ground, and tries to stab him with one of
these vials. And, of course, it just bends against
his rock -hard Tombstone skin. And falls to the
ground and busts. This fight kind of ensues,
and Lonnie ultimately slams him into a car, effectively
knocking him silly. He pulls out another thing
to stab him with, but drops it on the ground.
He's like sort of like just laying there sort
of like, you know, the hood of this car. And
as Lonnie's coming in, ultimately what I would
assume to be a kill shot. I mean, he's about
to just slam him into this into this thing, which
was surprising for Lonnie. Agreed. Robbie runs
up, grabs the ball from the ground and stabs
him. And I'm already tensing up about to say
this stabs him in the eyeball with it. And oh,
man. So stabs him in the eyeball with this antidote,
which does, in fact, work for Lonnie as well.
We see his skin sort of go back to normal as
he stands there. And, you know, Robbie says,
hey, you know, help me get Ben out of here. Or
he didn't say Ben because Lonnie doesn't know
that. But help me get the spider out of here.
You know, and Lonnie, now that he's powerless,
is back to being a good guy again. But still
a massive man. And he's like, yeah, sure. No
problem. And goes and smacks a couple of the
cops around that are, you know, ready to commit
some police brutality out there. And they all
load up in a car and peel away to get Ben some
much needed rest. So they get him there. Ben
wakes up and he's, you know, still kind of out
of it. He's ready to pick up the fight with Lonnie.
Then, you know, Robbie's there and it's like,
you know, dude, chill out. Look around the room.
We're in my apartment. You're in my bed. Why
are you trying to fight this guy? And ultimately,
Lonnie's grateful for everything that they've
done for him, realized that he was there to help
ultimately, risked his life to help him kind
of thing. And ultimately says that he's ready
to get out of here. His mom always wanted to
go see Niagara Falls. So he's got the pendant
around his neck, which I assume is symbolic.
Maybe some ashes in there. I don't think they
did that back in the day, but symbolic at least.
that he's going to leave the city and go up that
way. And we see him kind of walk out into the
night as Ben is sort of resting and recovering.
Meanwhile, back at the scene where this fight
with Tombstone happened, both vials are collected
by different factions, one by the police and
another by some of Silvermane's goons. And individually,
they take these two vials back to their respective
leaders. So the mayor and Silvermane both get
access to these vials. And the story of what
happened, right? Spider showed up. Lonnie stabbed
in the eye and he's no longer Tombstone. Okay,
great. And so they both are saying, hey, this
is a problem. The spider was there. And they
both sort of, actually a pretty cool scene as
they're both kind of side by side on the screen.
They both say at the same time, get me Ben Reilly.
And so they're obviously both leaning in on a
connection that they think they both have. To
the same man, they just don't realize it. And
that's kind of how the episode ends as we come
up ultimately to what is the season finale next
episode. Sort of setting the stage for whatever
this climactic finish to all of this stuff is
going to be. So that is what happened during
the episode. In terms of MCU tie -ins, we're
going to say it again for posterity. There aren't
any. Standalone universe within the Sonyverse,
totally disjointed from the MCU. And really,
dare I say, outside of it on another level with
how Ben acts and like you said, you know, the
beating up of the people in the bar really bothered
me. You know, shocking. Yeah, it's really anti.
You know, there are some heroes that I could
expect that kind of energy from. If that was
the Punisher in there or something like that.
OK, sure. Yeah, Frank, I get it. I get it, bro.
That's you. But to see it out of a spider, you
know, that's any spider. Yeah. That's what I
said. It is. See it out of a spider like any
spider. You know, it's just it just doesn't fit.
It doesn't feel right. But I guess that's more
to the thoughts and feelings. But in terms of
in terms of MCU tie ins, I said there's there's
not really familiar names. Right. And that's
really about it. Yeah. But yeah. How about in
terms of comic book tie ins, Easter eggs, things
of that nature? Yeah. As far as comic tie ins,
not a ton this go around. There was actually
kind of. Exactly the opposite. I mean, I was
expecting Tombstone to have similar weaknesses
to what he did in the comics. There's never been
any mention of Tombstone's eyes or anything like
that being softer or a penetrable skin. He's
always been. Sorry to bring it back up. Sorry.
Go ahead. We can do this together. But he's always
he's always had. Obviously, they took a different
direction with the carapace feel in the comics.
He's more a almost vampiric, not. Not in the
sense that he is a vampire, but he has the white
skin with sensitivity to light and certain gases
and things like that. Certainly never a mention
of soft orifices, which is a horrible thing to
say now that I've said it. But there it is. Take
those words back. Take them back. But yeah, so
as far as Tombstone is concerned, that was an
interesting choice, but I'm not mad at it. Well,
I'm kind of mad at it because of, you know, eye
stabbing is not something you want to see every
day. As far as that's concerned, that's kind
of where that's left. So interesting choice,
kind of anti -comic reference. But for comic
references, we did have Robbie kind of being
the moral center of this story, which he is,
as we discussed in the watch party, probably
the moral compass. Of this entire show, like
the most true north, because we've got, as you
said, Ben beating people up. He has done extortion
or an extortion, but blackmail. I mean, he's
done a lot of things in this show that are not
super spidery. Yeah. So having for sure. Yeah.
Having Robbie be the moral north is is pretty
comic accurate because he has always been that
reliant character in the comics. He is he's ultimately
the one to take over the bugle. And in. During
Robbie's reign at the Bugle, it is a trustworthy
news source. I mean, he is a very moral character
in those stories. So I'm glad to see that shining
through. He is kind of that beacon of correctness
in this show. So kind of cool to see that Spider
-Man being known who Spider -Man is, is kind
of his worst kept secret. That's a pretty common
theme in the books as well. Like everyone in
his immediate. typically knows who he is, with
the exception of some notable ones like Aunt
May and things like that, which is wild. But
it's pretty well known. There are a number of
characters that know who Spider -Man is, and
most of his villains do as well. So people figuring
that out is kind of a theme in Spider -Man. So
I guess that's kind of connected to the comics.
But other than that, I didn't find a whole lot
else. If people see it, please come on over to
the Discord and let us know, because I really
enjoyed this episode, but there wasn't a whole
lot to tie us to the comic book world. So with
all that being said, how'd you like it? I know
you kind of touched on it already. Yeah. So,
and I did like it. I continue to like the show.
There was some questionable things here that
I didn't care for, but there were like specific
instances of what was happening more so than
the actual story at large. Like I said, just
beating up civilians, drunken or not, you know?
And I mean, and not even just casual. I mean,
that one guy, he booted across the room and smashed
to the back of the bar. And that guy should be
paralyzed or dead, you know? Yeah. Humans don't
take hits like that. And so, yeah, that was an
odd choice. They're clearly trying to go for
Ben as being this sort of morally ambiguous,
flawed version. And he mentions in the last episode
and kind of reiterates it a bit here is that,
you know, he didn't do, you know, the spider
was never meant to be a hero. He just did it
for the thrills. And I'm wondering if that's
what they're trying to lean into and have this
be a story. Not only is he coming back to being
the spider from where he had put it away after
Ruby died, but also. Growing into a Spider -Man
that we would more recognize in terms of morality
and in terms of things like that. So maybe that's
what they're trying to do. I'm going to give
them the benefit of the doubt on that maybe and
say, because right now, yeah, it just doesn't
feel right with some of the choices. And I agree
with you. I think that that's probably where
they're going with it, but it shouldn't be in
the second to last episode. Yeah, right. That
should have been an earlier episode. And they're
still, they still haven't got it. Maybe they're
hoping for some season two action. We haven't
got confirmation yet at the time. But maybe that's
what they're hoping and they can continue that
line. Or maybe they're just doing whatever they
want. And this is all just part and parcel for
what they think is a good idea. But minus the
things like that, I did actually still enjoy
the episode. I like how it's all coming together.
Watching Lonnie flip -flop. I think it could
have been portrayed a little better. Like as
an overall arc, you see a man that's desperate,
that doesn't have anything. People are after
him. He's in the slums. And then he's going to
have a job and have a warm bed to sleep in and
have good food to eat. You know, and then as
that all goes away. But just the way that it
was so, like both times when he went over to
Silverman's side and when he went back to Nott
was just so quick. I feel like they could have
really, yeah, they really could have like smoothed
out those curves a little bit for Lonnie. Because,
I mean, I find him to be. a particularly enjoyable
character in the show. Agreed. Even though, like
you said, he is very different in a lot of ways
from the comic book Tombstone. Like you said,
this sort of, you know, albino really is the
way that I would say a type of character. And
obviously, you know, here, you know, the actor
and everything is an African -American actor
and everything. So they're really going a different
direction completely, which I'm not mad about.
Yeah. No, not at all. I would like for his flip
-flop of story does make sense from a narrative
standpoint, but I would have liked it to have
just been a little smoother because, you know,
big decisions like that aren't something you'd
make in one conversation. Yeah, they could have
handled it a little more clearly. You know what
I mean? Yeah. They could have given a little
bit more limelight to him and his story and how
he was going through that. But still. And unless
something happened in this last episode, it seems
like Lonnie, a .k .a. no longer Tombstone, he's
not Tombstone anymore, he's Tombstone -less,
is going to get a happy ending. And I think that
he very well deserves it from how he's been portrayed
and shown in this show. Yeah, we hope not to
see him again. Yeah, I hope I don't see him again.
It's been real, Lonnie, but I hope I don't see
you again because you've come full circle. You'll
get that happy ending. That's right. To see it
all kind of come together and we see, you know.
And we talked about in the watch party, and I
agree with you, you know, it definitely looks
like Flint is going to be one who's going to
want to accept this cure willingly because he
just he wants to get back to life. I think at
this point, you know, the life that he had with
Kat or whatever. And, you know, I definitely
see that. But on the flip side, Megawatt's not
there. He's not going to take it. He's going
to try to fry everybody that's in his way. So
seeing all this sort of ultimately come up to
the crescendo, which will be the season finale.
It's really well done. I can't wait to get this
last one knocked out and figure out how all this
kind of falls into place and everything else.
So, yeah, I've enjoyed the ride the entire time,
minus the eye stabbing and the body horror from
the last episode. But the story itself and the
things that they're doing, really, really well
done. Yeah. Really looking forward to seeing
it. So how about yourself? Yeah, it's been a
fun ride. The fact that this is the penultimate
episode for this season is exciting. And, you
know, typically some big things happen on the
penultimate. This one didn't feel like there
were as big a swings being taken, with the exception
of Silvermane losing Tombstone, which is. A massive
hit to one of the sides of this this oncoming
war that we're seeing. But I really I'm going
to echo you with Tombstone's arc. I really like
the character. I like what they did with him.
Certainly not the character from the comics that
we know, which is totally fine. And to my knowledge,
this is the only live action Tombstone that we've
gotten. So pretty good, pretty good template
to put out there for this character. If that's
if that's all we're going to see for him. The
stabbing of the eye did kind of bother me because
that's not a typical. Or classic tombstone. He's
not ready for it. Yeah. Well, in that it's just
not a classic tombstone weakness. I thought that
they were going to go more the direction of his
classical stuff, but it's fine that they didn't.
And it was fun to watch, but whatever. What I
really did like, and you mentioned it as well,
and I suppose it could be kind of. Kind of a
technical tidbit from our Easter eggs bit is
the the filming of that last section, the way
they handled that kind of the comics, the comic
panels sliding in and out. That was really very
comic booky and it felt really well done. And
the way the conversation was progressing through
multiple scenes was a lot of fun. And I really
dug that. And I love when movies and shows do
that. So, yeah, overall. Ton of fun. I am I am
buckled in and I'm so ready for this last episode
because I have no idea where they're going to
go. I want to see a Sandman megawatt showdown
is really what I'm hoping they're leading toward.
And it feels like they might. So I want to see
Flint get back on his track. But I mean, we might
lose him. Or I don't I don't feel like Flint
has has what it takes to go up against Megawatt.
And I feel like that's the direction we're headed.
And I'm kind of excited to see where it goes.
So can't wait. Yeah. Season and perhaps series
finale. We don't know yet. Yeah. But yeah, we'll
see next time. We hope to see you all there.

Snark Industries reaches the penultimate moment of Spider-Noir, with the board being set for the season finale. The full plot gets walked through, from Ben drinking away his sorrows and beating a bar full of hecklers, to a confrontation that ends with Robbie curing Lonnie of his Tombstone powers, to both Silvermane and the mayor independently deciding they need to find Ben Reilly. The hosts spend real time on Ben's increasingly morally ambiguous behavior and whether the show is deliberately building him toward a more recognizable version of Spider-Man, while also praising Robbie as the clear moral center of the series. Lonnie's redemption and hoped-for happy ending get warm approval, even as both hosts wish his back-and-forth allegiances had been given more room to breathe. Personal thoughts remain positive, with particular admiration for a comic-panel-style filmmaking flourish late in the episode, and both hosts are eager to see how the oncoming war resolves in the finale.

Synopsis
Haunted by what she has done, Cat searches the city for Ben, alerting Janet and Robbie to the fact that he is missing. Meanwhile, Silvermane and his powered crew gather at the Alcove, sore that their raid on Faber's laboratory turned up nothing. He then decides to turn his powered men loose on Mayor Morris. Flint and Dirk tear through the campaign offices and haul away the Mayor’s campaign cash, pushing the city further toward an open war. Ben, who has been pouring his heartbreak out to Eamon the bartender and brooding over the cure now sitting in his pocket, has his woes interrupted by a gaggle of gentlemen who have just benefited from Silvermane’s windfall. They sit far too close to the sulking Spider and begin to razz the aging hero, not realizing who they’ve just sat next to. Ben doesn’t handle himself well in his stupor. He pulls on the mask, thrashing the young men, and binding them in webbing before Robbie hauls him out of the bar. Ben says he is finished, that he means to drink the antidote and live as an ordinary man, that being the Spider no longer feels like anything good. Robbie will not allow it, reminding him that the cure is not his to spend while Flint and Lonnie are dying for want of it.
Back at the office, Ben still recovering from his drunken antics, lets it spill that he is, in fact, The Spider to Janet. It seems, however, that Janet has known for some time that her boss is The Spider, having found him slumped and slurring in his hat and goggles too many times to pretend otherwise. Flint visits Cat, expressing his feelings to her in no uncertain terms. Letter her know that her actions with Ben cut deep. It’s obvious that the two are still very much in love. Prepping five vials of the Antidote, it’s time to face off against Tombstone. Robbie requests to chat with Lonnie before The Spider enters the fray in hopes to end things without violence. When that fails and The Spider is forced to step in, it does not go well. With the first attempt, not surprisingly, unable to puncture the hide of Tombstone, it is Robbie who turns the moment. Ben, at the full mercy of Lonnie as he approaches, Robbie takes his moment, driving the antidote straight into Tombstone's eye causing the titan of a man to depower. Lonnie helps Ben and Robbie escape and decides to take his queue and head off to Niagara Falls. Hopefully, never to be seen again. The night closes with both sides converging on a single target, and Ben squarely at its center.

Comic Roots
Where the episode's people and places come from on the page.
This chapter belongs as much to Robbie as to Ben. He talks the Spider out of a selfish choice, then physically saves his life. In the comics, Joe Robertson, introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #51 (1967) by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr., is the steady moral center of the Daily Bugle and one of the most dependable allies in Spider-Man's life. Where the series has so far cast him as an ambitious reporter clawing for a desk, here it lets him be what he has always been on the page: the better angel who keeps the hero honest.
Lonnie Lincoln, introduced in Web of Spider-Man #36 (1988) by Gerry Conway and Alex Saviuk, is one of the few foes whose body simply outclasses Spider-Man's, his skin and bone hardened into living armor that ordinary force cannot break. The series keeps that faithfully, letting the Spider batter him to no effect, so that the answer has to come from somewhere other than strength. In the comics, however, his eye is not a known weakness.
Janet's revelation that she has long known Ben is the Spider plays on one of the oldest tensions in the mythos, the secret identity that the people nearest the hero normally see through. The series turns the trope inside out for comedy, making the worst-kept secret a punchline rather than a crisis.

The Snark File
Easter eggs, callbacks and technical tidbits.
Organic Webbing and its Cost
The Spider shoots webbing from his own body rather than mechanical web-shooters, matching the 2009 Spider-Man Noir comic. The bar brawl makes that detail load-bearing: overusing the organic webbing on the drunks leaves him depleted and struggling when he faces Tombstone shortly thereafter.
"Freaks"
Silvermane and the papers tag the metahumans as "freaks," which The Comic Book Sanctum reads as a nod to the original Spider-Man Noir comics, where the Goblin's henchmen came out of a Freak Show. The word lands in the Alcove dialogue at the top of the episode.
